In 1987 the journey began with six Arts subjects, sixty-three students and six teachers in a thatched roofed mud-walled hut. In a little over two decades the college today proudly offers all three streams – Arts, Commerce and Science with Honours in twelve subjects. Mankar College has been endeavouring to be community oriented in its activities. The NSS team of the college works for comprehensive social uplift through Survey, Afforestation, Campus Cleaning to name a few. Blood Donation camps organized from time to time in the college are also directed towards community welfare, especially the welfare of the thalassemia patients. The participation of the college students in AIDS Awareness Programmes strengthens the social campaign against the HIV menace. Through class lectures and project works the students of the college are inspired to understand the environment and threats to it so that they may play active role in making it more habitable for the future generations. The College has National Cadet Corps (NCC) unit affiliated to 10 Bengal Battalion. The process of recruitment of new cadets begins just after admissions. Our national cadre have sound performance in state level as well as in national level.I extend a warm welcome to all the prospective students of this college on behalf of the entire institute to create a roadmap for the future.
